This event is 21 and over

This four piece NYC band has seemed to have come out of nowhere with a debut single that makes quite a bold statement. "Make It Quick" is a slow burning piece of chamber pop, bringing in inspiration from the '60s and merging the sounds with contemporary indie rock.

Tense, nervous vocals seem to tiptoe around the distorted instrumental track, while light drums keep the solemn tune rolling forward. Emotion pours out through the lyrics keeping you within a dark, psychedelic trance throughout a majority of "Make It Quick". All of this continually builds into a grand cry, promising a phoenix-like return from ashes.
Quickly Quietly
Quickly Quietly
quickly quietly formed in 2011, at the end of the year they released their debut Seven EP. The band first played together in prospect-lefferts garden and continued grinding out improv sessions into a fresh sound from analog drum machines, deep guitar and heavy rhythms. The new sound, exemplified by the track “Nothing But Air,” is very electric and very live. Lautaro on drums and samples, Paul on bass and keys, Aaron on guitar and vox. Each member serves double duty to the music creating a eclectic sound and a wide palate, uncharacteristic of a rock trio. If there was an ethos to the band it would be song, texture, rhythm, electrified.

Aaron. Guitarist. Singer. Virgo. Rocknrolla. Father. Child. Not a Father. Or a strong swimmer. College graduate. New Yorker. Western New Yorker. Eats well. No English. Some English. Anglo-Saxon, no. Tags. Cables. Jackets. Power. Nordic, no. American. The Science. Danger. Rumble in the Jungle. Danger. Effects pedals, yea.

Paul started kicking ass at a young age, making tapes of midi-sequences and expecting his bandmates to practice along with them at the tender age of 12. No one complied and he's still pissed about it! As a result, he refuses to practice the electric bass and/or keyboard and has difficulty remembering arrangements. Paul resides in Manhattan and is just using music to support his investment banking hobby.
Jessi & The Mechanics
Jessi & the Mechanics is a New York-based indie rock band featuring lead singer Jessi Mechanic's powerful voice and songwriting. Their debut LP, "Wandering in Roam", coheres around minor melodies and cutting, Elliot Smith-style lyrics. The four piece band also features guitarist Jason Ide, bassist Andrew McCornack and drummer Mikael Parlow.

With the intensity of Florence Welch and the bluesy, undertone of Amy Winehouse, Jessi's voice is the center of gravity in the album. In "Too Far Gone", Jessi's confessional words hit their marks with violence and intensity: "Strangles you and leaves a mark round your neck/reflections in mirrors won't let you forget."

The songs can lift you up with Motown melodies ("Just Be"), or propel you through the darkness of a post-punk city at night ("Wandering in Roam"). Driven by catchy hooks and guitar riffs, Jessi and the Mechanics takes psycho-physical pain and makes it luminous.
