Pavo Pavo
Pavo Pavo
Pavo Pavo is an experimental pop band from Brooklyn, NY. Their debut record, Young Narrator in the Breakers, will be released in November 2016. The band started writing together while studying music at Yale, and since then its five members have worked closely with indie and classical heavyweights such as Here We Go Magic, Roomful of Teeth, Dave Longstreth, and San Fermin. Stereogum describes their music as "weightless pop that sounds like it was beamed down from a utopian future"

Young Narrator in the Breakers walks through its songs with symphonic elegance – guitar stabs, washed out harmonies, and rumbling synthesizers come and go like guests at a party. The record describes the magic and panic of adult life; a breaker is a wave whose potential energy is being transformed into turbulent kinetic energy. Co-produced by Danny Molad (Lucius) and Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds), it is a romantic record in the tradition of Elephant 6, and a cohesive record in the tradition of Grizzly Bear. It's our pleasure to introduce: Pavo Pavo.

Johanne [yo-HUN-ah] Swanson, a native to Wisconsin currently residing in Brooklyn, has been writing and releasing music since 2011. Patientness, released in 2016, is an ode to patience: taking things slowly, enduring through difficulty, finding strength within yourself when what's familiar feels so far away. Taking time in a world that wants everything to happen so quickly. It's light and then dark, heavy and then weightless, with Swanson's haunting words and pulsing dimlit beats stringing the stories together, often hanging atop swatches of ambient electronics. Swanson's next collection, Mirroring, is due out in 2019.

"Swanson's words glimmer at the song's surface. Rich with natural imagery and moments of intimacy, her lyrics tell of deliberately waiting in the balance between mourning the past and hoping for the future. Her voice is yearning, but knowing." - NPR

"Intimate synth-pop... There's a confidence in every word that wasn't there before. Yet at the center, it is still Swanson and her vulnerability, her willingness to lay out her emotions in a fairly barebones manner. It's just now she has channeled all of that into something rapturous." - Pitchfork

"Introverted songs that derive just as much power from their dreamy atmospherics as they do from Swanson's languishing, yearning lyrics." - Stereogum
HNRY FLWR
HNRY FLWR
HNRY FLWR is an icon, a band, a brand-- gold clad, star-eyed and philosophically sincere. But the occult chill-wave persona comes from humble and earnest beginnings. Born into a cult in Iowa, HNRY FLWR grew up meditating and moving around the world with a psychic mother who claims to remember being born. And there is something strangely meditative about the lyrical dream pop they create as a band in Brooklyn, NY.

The world is an increasingly complex place and HNRY FLWR has had a stand out year despite the project’s own complex nature. Their “brilliant” (GoldFlakePaint) debut EP, FLOWERAMA, was released in the summer of 2017 on Paper Garden Records and quickly began going viral on Spotify with over 500,000 streams. The “melodic, danceable, and devastating” (Alt Citizen) EP was produced by David Groener Jr, (who has worked with The National, Glen Hansard, and more). The HNRY FLWR band has evolved and transformed with members of Foxygen, A Place to Bury Strangers and The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger all playing with HNRY FLWR both in the studio and live.
