Chaos in the CBD
Chaos in the CBD
Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales are Chaos In the CBD.

New Zealand brothers Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales have worked together for the past 8 years, producing and DJing informed house and techno as Chaos In The CBD.The brothers work with motifs drawn from the historical continuum of house music, paying homage to the timeless classics of the dance spectrum.

Since relocating to London in 2012, they’ve released a string of well received records through ClekClekBoom, Amadeus, Needwant and Hot Haus Records. Along the way they’ve marked themselves out as one of the most eminent underground DJ/production duos to emerge out of the South Pacific in recent years.

The pair split their time between the studio and performing around Europe and the UK as well as Australia and New Zealand.

With a number of releases always waiting to be pressed, Chaos In The CBD are establishing themselves as underground heroes that stand apart from so many of their peers.
Jayda G
Jayda G
Jayda G is a Canadian DJ that moves back and forth from Vancouver to Berlin. As a music producer, she came out with her first release on the Australian label, Butter Sessions, earlier this May. Jayda G has also recently started a new record label project called Freakout Cult. The co-produced label, with Sex Tags Mania co-founder DJ Fett Burger, was inspired by the Freakout Cult club night the two started in Vancouver. The record was released late September of 2015.

In a relatively short time, Jacquelyn has quickly made a name for herself in the NYC dance scene. In her time at DanceTracks, she has been able to work with and be amongst some of the biggest names in dance music like Theo Parrish, Kenny Larkin, Danny Krivit, Robert Owens, DJ Pierre, Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Jus-Ed, Mike Grant, X-Press 2, King Britt, Giles Peterson, and Deadmau5, to name a small few. She has had the privilege to be a part of the history of dance music culture in NY and the honor of promoting the talents of many of her musical idols. Her passion and love for the underground is the only thing that has continually propelled her efforts. “It’s always been about preserving the integrity of the culture. By pushing quality music only and by promoting artists and labels that continue to expand and elevate the sound.

She also, alongside her identical twin sister, held down a long running radio show, Analog Soul, on the NYC based internet radio station, East Village Radio. The show, “an exploration in the sound of the deeper underground”, spanned many genres of electronic music — house, techno, dub, d+b, downtempo, etc., but primarily pushed a deeper darker side of techno along the vein of Robert Hood, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish and Matthew Dear. She has also deejayed at many venues in the city, including Apt, Love, Bar 13 and Stay, to name few, pushing her brand of deep minimalist Detroit sounds.

Brian Leeds produces electronic music under the name Huerco S. His debut album for Software is titled Colonial Patterns. On Colonial Patterns, Leeds treats his Kansas City region as a universe worthy of its own electronic music.

To that end, Leeds deconstructs Midwestern techno and house tropes. The pieces are corrugated, rough, and decompositional. Working cheaply, Leeds conscientiously uses low-end software, synths and cassettes so as to subvert the gloss of so much urban dance music, giving tracks an impressionistic, emotive feel. The result is uniquely Midwestern: there is an expansiveness to each piece that suits the open space and the storied past of its inhabitants.

A native of Eastern Kansas, Brian Leeds first turned to music and visual art as a teenager. He attended the University of Kansas where he studied installation art and ceramics before leaving school to focus exclusively on sound design and music production. Recent releases include "No Jack," off the EP for Wicked Bass, and the twenty-minute synth exploration "Untitled" which Leeds cut in collaboration with Exael for Software's favorite Opal Tapes.

Colonial Patterns shares Jon Hassell's hybridized experiments in percussive ambience, as well as William Basinski's strobing melancholia. When tracks subtly veer into house/techno territories, they mirror the no frills dance mechanics of Midwest figureheads Ron Hardy, Omar S and Theo Parrish.

John Barera & Will Martin
John Barera & Will Martin
Brooklynites John Barera & Will Martin continue their journey into sculptural, storytelling House music, with their debut album on Dolly - ' Graceless'. The pair's work has found a wider audience since the success of 'Reality', which found its way into the hands of Berlin's Steffi, and acted as a central gear and in her 2013 Panorama 05 Mix. John Barera has been a firm disciple of the House and Techno world for the past 10 years, and after launching Supply Records in 2011 has brought an elegant, resoundingly universal mixture of underground club tracks to the fore. A fresh and fruitful partnership with close friend Will Martin grew out of the pair's rapidly growing studio, and the latest results can be found here over the 8 cool, classy and refined contemporary House tracks.
