Known for video game-vibed (in the best nostalgic sense) debut track “Xihukwani,” South African producer Nozinja is back with a second dose of his Nintendo-Shangaan drug, “Baby Do U Feel Me.” The track instantly throws the listener into an electro driven dance style, or Shangaan electro, which thrives off of mixed, echoing verses. Nozinja popularized the Shangaan electro movement, mixing traditional folk with dance music into something truly ear-opening.
Off his recently released debut record Nozinja Lodge (Warp Records), “Baby Do U Feel Me” dives headfirst into a crisp MIDI-powered electronic ambiance that captures you with its captivating pact of synthesized flute and blended marimba. The video for the single is eccentric, yet undeniably original. It utilizes net art visuals molded to sheer surreality, perfectly portraying the restlessness of the track.
