Toronto artist Tommy Paxton-Beesley (a.k.a. River Tiber) has just released “I’m A Stone,” a new track from his forthcoming LP, Indigo, which will be released on June 24. Prior to this release, River Tiber put out his debut album Synapses in 2013 and two EPs, When The Time Is Right and The Star Falls in 2015. 2016 has since been a big year for Paxton-Beesley, as he’s been featured on albums such as Hotel Paranoia by Jazz Cartier, 99.9% by Kaytranada, and has featured other Canadian artists like Daniel Caesar on self-released tracks like “West.”
The new song, “I’m A Stone” is absolutely something to be excited about. River Tiber digs deep into his soulful and emotive vocals while holding onto a minimalistic croon. This downtempo electronic track probably draws ties from noted inspirations and collaborators such as James Blake, BADBADNOTGOOD, and his boy Kwikfiks.
If you’re into River Tiber, I highly recommend checking out Toronto natives ev ree wuhn, Milosh (of Rhye), and Calgary-based Bobby Uzoma, all who encompass a type of River Tiber synth that makes you feel some special way.
